Paid Opportunity to train with the SWALLOWING CLOUDS Educational Program
tiger princess dance projects is offering a paid opportunity to train with the Swallowing Clouds™ Educational Program. We are seeking recent post-secondary school graduates with an interest in working in the arts and with children. The training will give practical and theoretical training in guiding children through a multidisciplinary creative process.
Selected participants will take part in three days of in-person training, approximately 15 hours, at a rate of $20 per hour. We are seeking those with an interest in becoming part of the Swallowing Clouds team. Post training, participants may have the opportunity to become Swallowing Clouds Apprentice Facilitators (SCAFs).
Swallowing Clouds™ is a community literacy and dance-based programme created by Yvonne Ng that has been running in Toronto Public Libraries since 2010. Through movement experimentation, written responses, music creation, visual and theatre arts, Swallowing Clouds artists work with children focusing on creative process and allowing each participant to engage in creating their own story.
This opportunity is open to applicants living within the Greater Toronto Area between the ages of 19 and 29 and eligible to work in Ontario, Canada.
Selected artists need to be available for in person training in Toronto, over four days in June.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- An interest in working with children (age 6 -12) in a collaborative environment combining poetry, dance, music, theatre, and visual arts.
- Organized, flexible, works well in a collaborative environment.
- Police check, as required for working with the vulnerable sector.
- Experience working with groups in a community setting.
- Previous teaching experience is an asset, but not required.

- Resume outlining relevant experience (maximum 2 pages)
- Written samples (2-3) of poetry and/or videos of dance (maximum 10 minutes), and/or 2 – 3 digital files of visual art.
