As an immigrant, I remain in awe of this country and deeply grateful for the care and stewardship of these lands by the peoples who have lived here long before me. The land on which we gather and create holds thousands of years of human presence and knowledge. On behalf of princess productions’ board, our artists, and our artistic and production team, we offer our respect to the First Peoples who have lived on and cared for these lands since time immemorial.

The making of art is shaped by who we are, where we come from, and where we stand. Recognizing the histories embedded in the land we work on allows us to create with greater awareness, humility, and responsibility.

We acknowledge that our work takes place on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples, and within a city that is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples from across Turtle Island. We offer our respect to the traditional caretakers of this land and to those who continue to live, work, and create here today.

In my own ongoing efforts to learn more about the land where I live and work, I have been guided toward a number of resources that I would like to share with you. These are offered in the spirit of learning, listening, and continued reflection. No list is ever complete, and there is always more to learn. I welcome corrections, additions, and dialogue at info@princessproductions.ca
