Wéi

Last fall, Yvonne and collaborating artists Mairéad Filgate, Kaitlin Standeven, Johanna Bergfelt, Luke Garwood, and Irvin Chow, and composer Nick Storring were at the Banff Centre for a creative residency. The residency was for research and development for a new piece titled, Wéi, which means “to become” in Mandarin.

The idea of this piece started with two questions:

What makes us who we are?
When do we become us?

Our time in Banff allowed for creation and further exploration of these questions. Rehearsals for Wéi will continue through the spring/summer.

We can’t wait to share the progress of this work with you!
