Working as SCAF in the Swallowing Clouds program has been an enriching and exciting experience. I love being a part of a child’s creative journey and helping them nurture their artist ideas. Facilitating in a collaborative atmosphere makes the experience more enjoyable for the facilitators and kids. Because of the amount of facilitators in the room it feels like there is enough support for each child’s individual needs. I am learning so much from the more experienced facilitators about leading a room and how to organize a session. It’s so interesting to watch what activities kids respond to and why, which changes a lot based on location, demographic, and age. It’s inspiring to watch them create so freely and collaboratively with each other. The mixture of disciplines flows seamlessly into each other, and often the kids have so many ideas of how to blend art forms together. I would have enjoyed a program like this so much as a kid. I am excited to continue learning and fostering creativity in the next generation.
