Thank you to everyone who submitted an application.
Please note that we will only be contacting selected artists.

tiger princess dance projects (tpdp) invites applications for a paid training opportunity with the Swallowing Clouds™ Educational Programme.

We are seeking recent post-secondary graduates with a strong dance background who are interested in working in the arts and with children. Applicants may come from dance, theatre, writing, or other multidisciplinary practices, but should have a solid foundation in movement and a curiosity for working across artistic forms.

Selected participants will take part in four days of in-person training in Toronto (June 2–5, afternoons), totalling approximately 16 hours. Participants will be compensated at $20 per hour.

The training offers both practical and theoretical experience in guiding children through a multidisciplinary creative process. Participants will learn approaches to:

  • Facilitating the creative process
  • Guiding creative movement-based exploration
  • Facilitating (workshops for children)
  • Improvisations and interdisciplinary creation

Participants will also gain insight into working with children in community settings and supporting imaginative, collaborative environments.

About Swallowing Clouds

Swallowing Clouds™ is a community literacy and dance-based programme created by Yvonne Ng that has been running in Toronto Public Libraries since 2010. Through movement experimentation, written responses, music creation, visual and theatre arts, Swallowing Clouds artists work with children to explore storytelling through the body and imagination.

The programme encourages children to:

  • Develop their imagination
  • Connect movement with language and storytelling
  • Collaborate with others
  • Build confidence through creative expression

Central to the programme is the belief that every participant can create and share their own story through movement and artistic exploration.

Participants who complete the training may be invited to become Swallowing Clouds Apprentice Facilitators (SCAFs). Apprentice Facilitators may assist with future Swallowing Clouds programmes in libraries, schools, and community settings.
